This may come as no surprise, but did you know your kitchen can be the most expensive area to remodel?

It’s typically one of the largest areas in your home and the place where your most-used appliances go.

When it comes to a kitchen remodel, you could be looking at a range anywhere from a couple of thousand dollars to $50,000 or more.

Whether you’re a complete DIYer or you’re more than happy to pay someone else to take the reins, we have 5 kitchen remodeling tips to save you time and money.

5 KITCHEN REMODELING TIPS TO SAVE YOU TIME AND MONEY

1.  BUT FIRST, WHY ARE YOU REMODELING?

Ok, so you’ve read the best blogs, scrolled Pinterest for way too long, maybe even spent so much time on Instagram your thumb actually hurts (true story)—and now you’re fueled with so many inspired ideas to remodel your kitchen.

Before you go looking for the best contractors and remodelers to start this exciting project, it’s best to ask yourself why you’re remodeling in the first place.

It’s easy to see the beautiful photos online and want that for your home as well…

But is it practical for your home and lifestyle?

Since you don’t cook that much maybe a gourmet kitchen isn’t what you need.

Would a bay window be best if you live on a busy street?

Will that really large refrigerator fit in your not-so-large kitchen?

We’re not saying to forget the kitchen of your dreams, we’re simply giving you questions to make it worth your time and money!

2.  DESIGN YOUR LAYOUT

You probably have a well-thought-out layout in mind, especially when you watch before and after shows (we’re looking at you Good Bones and your swoon-worthy reveals).

This is also where the budget starts to rear its quartz vs. granite head, or if you need to knock down walls and replace the flooring.

It may be easy and within budget to add an island to your kitchen remodel, but it may not be as easy or within budget to bring your kitchen down to the studs and start over.

Have a couple of kitchen layouts—from budget-friendly to wild dreaming—ready to go when it’s time.

3.  KNOW WHERE TO SPLURGE

Maybe faucets aren’t your thing, but lighting sure is.

Perhaps quartz is a must for you, but you’re not so picky when it comes to appliances.

You may be remodeling your kitchen, but you don’t have to splurge on every area in it.

Know what you truly want to spend money on in your kitchen and what you don’t.

This will not only save you money but time and fewer gray hairs as well.

4.  FIND THE BEST CONTRACTORS/REMODELERS (PATIENCE IS KEY)

We definitely know the frustration of not being able to find the right contractors and remodelers for your home.

If you don’t know where to start—ask around. Word of mouth is super important for referrals, especially if a friend or family member can speak personally about their experience.

When you do know who you want to work on your kitchen remodel project, keep in mind it may take them a bit to actually begin work with you.

Our best advice is to be patient in not only finding someone but also when it comes time to start the remodel.

Please let us know if you need any recommendations for who to work with—we have a trusted list of builders, contractors, and remodelers we work with.

5. HAVE FUN!

When it comes to finding inspiration for your kitchen remodel—that can be easy.

By the time you’re in the thick of your project (dust in everything and you can’t stomach eating out one more time)—remember why you wanted to remodel your kitchen in the first place.

Know this time is temporary and have as much fun as possible choosing what you want in your new kitchen—as you envision the food, friends, and family that’ll soon accompany it!

A kitchen remodel can be one of the largest endeavors you take on with your home.

It’s the place you spend a large amount of time and make some of the most memories.

Embrace the journey that it will be and get ready to smile a little more when you walk into your new kitchen!
